It is coming up fast. May 4-7 Trailfest at AOP Adventure Off Road Park in S. Pittsburgh TN

For more information and to register go to Southern Four Wheel Drive Association's website. I went to Dixie Run (which is SFWDA's other big event) last year. It was a great time, tons of raffle items that included winches, drive shafts, 5 sets of BF Goodrich tires and many other prizes. Kid friendly, many planned events and rides.

I am already registered and will be camping for the event.

This is a major event and is close to home so load up and come join me for some fun!

Well besides a 2wd Cherokee I haven't been in the Jeep business since back in the 70s. Specifically a 77 CJ5. Today's Jeep is so far ahead of those it really caught me off guard.

They have always been a fond memory so one day out of the blue I decided to go check the new Jeeps out. I feel in love with them and was torn between a red Rubicon and a white sport with leather, 33.4 Toyos and a 3 inch budget lift for around the same money.
Knowing what I know now I would have been better off with a Rubi but was getting a great deal and probably should have looked a little harder for one of another color. Patience didn't win that round

Anyway, work with the cards you were dealt.

I added a used Poison Spyder BFH rear bumper but modified it with extension metal on the ends to protect the rear quarters and a lip around the top to close the gap between the bumper and the body.(see 1st pic)

Next, I had bought a slightly used Smittybilt XRC10 winch and was intending on fabricating my own front bumper as soon as my shop was built. Shop took too long so I found a great deal on a Smittybilt MOD stubby front bumper and installed it, the winch and a stinger (that I had picked up used).(see 2nd pic)

I also installed a Cobra 75wxst CB which I really like because I keep it unplugged and in a bag in the back until needed. The first pic shows where it comes out from under the glove box. I picked a Firestick2 antenna and mounted on the front bumper protected by the stinger where it gets better reception than the normal back of the Jeep locations. I also unscrew it and it rides strapped to my role bar until needed.(see 3rd - 5th pic)

Got tired of unbolting the front sway bars so I installed a set of JKS quick disconnects. (see 6th pic)

At this point the added weight of the bumpers and winch had lowered my stance and had me in a nose down position. I acquired a set of Hard Rock springs and shocks. With help from Austin and his shop we got those installed. It gained me a little over 2 inches and leveled me out again. The ride is as good or better than before and it performed perfectly at Dixie Run. I am pleased with my suspension considering I still am limited by the Dana 30 on the front. One day I will change axles and get a real suspension.

Also purchased a behind the rear seat net. One purpose was for our large dog to keep her in the back and off the leather. The second is that it allows for me to mount pouches to store items like the CB, tire gauges, recovery straps etc. (see last pic).

Have a few more mods but nothing too noteworthy.

It is a large event for a great cause and not too far away.
