Not exactly an "Official" Rocket City Wranglers event, so I put it here.

It is a monthly meet, so lets see if we can get a decent group on a regular basis!

So, here is the meetup plan:
Meet at the AMC Huntsville Classic 10 theater at 5:30
The theater is located here: 1359 Old Monrovia Rd, Huntsville, AL 35806
That should give folks enough time to get there after work.
Then we can enter Providence from the North side and parade down main street in Jeep style!

Club Announcements / Be weather aware tomorrow
« on: March 29, 2017, 07:48:49 PM »
Just a note to everyone to be weather aware tomorrow.

Looks like we could be in for a rough ride tomorrow evening, even worse if you are west of I-65.

They are IN!

So, if you ordered one, post up in here.  If you are going to be at the ride this Saturday, I will bring them with me.
If not, we can figure something out.

The shirts are $15 each.  We can accept paypal, but I don't want to collect money until I hand you a shirt.

Thanks for the orders!

We will get a small stock of them made as well for those that didn't order one.  But that won't be this weekend.

Off Topic / Alabama Senate Bill 24 (SB-24)
« on: March 14, 2017, 10:36:04 AM »
So, here goes... I'm jumping into the deep end of the pool with this one.

There is a bill in the Alabama Legislature this session.  It is a VERY important bill, well, to me anyway.
The bill is meant to drop the requirement for pistol permits in the state of Alabama, and to modify existing laws so that one does not have to relinquish one right in order to exercise another.

The bill's status and text can be found here:

I consider myself fairly knowledgeable when it comes to the firearms laws in the state of Alabama, and this bill, and the reasonings behind current law and this bill.

Many Sheriffs and the Alabama Sheriff's Association are on a hard charge to block this bill and are spreading all sorts of misinformation to that end.  So, in the interest of spreading accurate and truthful information, I submit this thread.

This looks like something we should try to make a group effort to attend.  Looks like it could be fun!

For those without facebook:
This event is in the spirit of the old Dairy Queen Cruise-In in Madison. If you loved that event, you'll love this oneā€”same atmosphere, same vibe, same fun, and even more food choices.

The goal of this meet is to provide a fun family friendly environment. ALL CARS ARE WELCOME!!!! We will be parking on the grass (we will park large trucks and SUV's in the rear lot to help maximize parking). Please use the entrance near The Brickhouse unless we direct you to use a different entrance.

Please don't leave trash, no burnouts, no speeding, no excessive revving, no loud music, or anything else that would disturb residents in the area. We are very fortunate to have such a great venue so lets keep it and make this year bigger and better then ever!!!!!

Thanks again for everyone's continued support and thanks a ton to everyone that helps make this event a success.

This event is rain or shine and year round. See you there!

@Marine660, I split the welcome thread and moved the "build stuff" into it's own thread.  Now you have an official build thread!  WOOT!

Jeep Talk / Damaged wheel extension and Landers McLarty
« on: February 08, 2017, 07:46:49 PM »
So I decided to pull my wheel extensions off today to see if it would have any affect on a pretty severe shake at 70mph.

I started with the offending wheel. Rear driver side.

I immediately noticed the wheel extension was beat to crap. Two of the mounting holes were actually deformed enough that the socket had trouble fitting in.

Landers McLarty strikes again. The jerkoff that removed the extension when I had the axle seal replaced, beat the crap out of it with a metal hammer.   It's almost funny how incompetent some of these people can be. The other three I was able to pop right off with a pry bar in the center of the extension. I didn't have to beat on any of them to remove them.

Also, they had to replace two of the lug studs, and they told me this. Honestly, the studs in the extensions are pretty soft compared to the stock lugs. HOWEVER, they put a different size in which required a 21mm. I only carry a 19mm which fits the CORRECTLY SIZED stock lug nuts. Really. I'm not sure what else to say about this circus.

I'm even more done with the incompetence than I was before.

Please use the following naming convention when you start an event thread:

Event Name > Location > Data - Additional info.

for example:  Best Ride Ever > Awesome Trails OVP > 10 - 13 May 2017 - Bring Spare Parts!

This will help with quick zeroing in on specific threads as well as continuity for the forum.

It really strayed from a "Build Thread", so I put it in Jeep Talk.

Member Events / JAN 28, 2017 - Cave Code Ride With Jeepism - Townsend, TN
« on: December 15, 2016, 09:23:41 AM »
This is not a RCW official ride.  But it would be cool if we could attend in some level.

Jeepism is a cool small shop in Townsend, TN.  There are hotels in the area that will most likely have vacancies.  Townsend is about 13 miles west of Pigeon Forge on HWY 321.  It takes about 4.5 - 5 hours to get there from here.

Smoky Mountain Jeep Club is organizing the ride.  Here is their details on their facebook event:
Smoky Mountain Jeep Club will be doing a joint ride with Jeepism to Cades Cove. We will be meeting at Jeepism at 10:30am and Jeeps hit the road at 11:00am.
The scenic driving tour through the Cades Cove Loop takes approximately two to four hours depending on traffic. Because it’s a single-lane road, be prepared to stop frequently—the slow pace makes it easy to enjoy the amazing mountain landscapes, wildflower meadows and diverse wildlife. Halfway through the Loop, we will make a point to stop at the Visitors Center. Photo opportunities are ample and restrooms available. The water-powered mill is near the Visitor Center is a must-see as well.
At this point depending on weather conditions we will also take a quick bite to eat. Like always please bring chairs, blankets and snacks.

I figured since we don't have an official ride planned for January, maybe this could stand in its place.

As far as I know, this ride is along a dirt road with a couple of small creek crossings.  No climbing involved... I think a car could do it easily.

This is a link to the event.. hopefully it works properly.
